In 2024, we achieved a milestone that was both historic for Singapore and personal for us: we became the first declaring agent to successfully process an import permit for edible insect food in Singapore.
A Vision from Within
This breakthrough was made possible thanks to our founder, Javier Yip, who also established Insect Food Pte Ltd (Insectyumz) the first company in Singapore to legally import and sell edible insects for human consumption.
When the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) approved 16 insect species for human consumption in July 2024, most saw novelty but we saw potential. Leveraging our own declaring expertise, we navigated the new regulatory framework, health certifications, and compliance requirements to clear the very first edible insect shipment into Singapore.
